The Bytecoin Team is pleased to announce that the blockchain upgrade height has been set. The hardfork procedure will be triggered at block:
1792117
Which approximately corresponds to:
Friday, 17th May 2019
In this article we will briefly go over again what’s going to happen and what actions should be performed on your end in order to continue using Bytecoin software.
What will happen
Around May 17th, 2019 the Bytecoin blockchain will undergo an upgrade - it will start accepting blocks with version 4, bringing new features.
How to get prepared
If you’re a Bytecoin Desktop user:
You need to update your Bytecoin Desktop app to at least v3.4.2 (the most recent version is always recommended)
If you’re a bytecoin.money or Bytecoin Wallet by B-Wallet Android app user:
No action is required, we are taking care of the software for these platforms.
If you store/trade BCN on a third-party exchange/wallet:
The following third-party integrators have already gone through with the update:
Poloniex
Stex.com
HitBTC
Freewallet
EOBOT
TradeOgre
Crex24
If your integrator of choice has not updated yet, your BCN will remain unchanged. You will be able to send your BCN once the integrator updates. Feel free to ask your integrator about their upgrade status.
What will the hardfork bring?
NB!
the new release allows for both old and new format addresses to work and transfer BCNs among each other;
maximum coin supply will not be modified.
This hardfork sets the stage for the following features:
HD wallets with mnemonic backup and restore;
new unlinkable addresses;
reduced ring signature size;
wallet history stored in the blockchain;
improved P2P protocol;
We thank our users and integrators for their timely software updates and their contributions to network health. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to write to support at support@bytecoin.org or reach us via Twitter and Reddit.
